The CO2 laser wavelength can be well absorbed by the paper as well. Laser cutting of paper results in a clean cutting edge with minimal discoloration. Laser engraving of paper gives a long-lasting and delicate effect. The color of the engraving can be black, brown, light brown depending on the density of the paper. The lower the density, the more oxidized and darker the color. The lighter or darker color also depends on the processing method (power, speed, air blast)
Paper-based materials such as bond paper, construction paper, cardboard, coated paper, copy paper, all can be engrave and cut by CO2 laser.
